Can you really lay it over existing tiles?
In most homes, yes. If the existing floor is sound, level and dry, Hana's SPC planks float straight over your tiles or screed with no hacking and no adhesive. We check your floor first. The only preparation is usually a thin levelling layer, and only if the surface is very uneven. That makes the whole job far quicker and cleaner than a conventional floor:
- No hacking. We lay over sound tiles or screed, so there's no demolition, no debris and no disposal cost.
- No glue, no drying. The Wood series planks lock to each other, not to your subfloor, so there's nothing to cure and no waiting for it to set.
- Ready to walk on. With no glue to cure, the floor is ready as soon as it's laid. How long a room takes depends on its size and the layout you choose.
The Välinge 5G click system
What makes it so clean is the joint. Hana's planks use the Välinge 5G click system, the premium locking mechanism from Välinge, the company that invented glueless click flooring.
You angle the long edge of a new plank into the row beside it, then fold it down flat. As it lowers, the short end snaps vertically into the plank behind it and clicks home. It takes only light tapping to close the seams, not heavy hammering. The joint pulls tight and stays tight, with no gaps, no movement and no lifting edges underfoot.
No glue, no fumes
Because the planks click together with nothing glued, there's no solvent smell and no adhesive off-gassing. The SPC itself is made without added formaldehyde, so the room is ready to live in as soon as the last plank is down.
Flexible and reversible
Because the floor floats and isn't glued down, it's as easy to take up as it is to lay. Scuff or damage a board and you lift that one plank and drop a fresh one in, without disturbing the rest of the room. It leaves the original floor underneath untouched, which makes it a smart choice for a rental, or a home you might reconfigure later. Upgrade now, change your mind later, no damage done.
